EPS Music Recognition

PRESS RELEASE:  April 19, 2024
Superintendent’s Office

The office of the Superintendent is pleased to announce that Enfield Public Schools received National Recognition for Music Education Support.

Enfield Public Schools has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.  This is the first year the Enfield Music department has applied and been accepted as a recipient.  Now in its 25th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, the Enfield Public Schools Music Department answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.  Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

The Enfield Public Schools Music Department currently has 16 music certified staff members providing access and music education to the students of Enfield grades K-12.  Staff is committed to creating a school community that celebrates the intrinsic values of music, develops independent and collaborative skills, cultivates application of content, and generates reflective competency of this art form.

Enfield Public Schools encourages students to strive for the pursuit of excellence through active ownership and involvement in a variety of musical and culturally connected experiences.  Our curriculum is focused on National Core Arts and Connecticut State Standards.  Our goal is for all students to have equitable access to quality music education that leads to artistic literacy and fluency in the practices of the music discipline through, creating, performing, presenting, producing, responding, and connecting.  We thank members of the Enfield Board of Education, Central Office Administration, School Building Administration, Faculty, Custodial, Secretarial and Support Staff.  Special thanks to the parents, relatives, students, and music staff consistently involved in the support of our musical arts programs.
