Thomas DeFilipi : 2005 - 2006

Dr. John Gallacher, Superintendent of Schools, has announced that Thomas M. DeFilipi is the 2005-2006 Enfield Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year.  This honor will allow Mr. DeFilipi to compete in the Connecticut Teacher of the year Program.

Mr. DeFilipi has taught in the Enfield public Schools for thirty-four years. He is a World History teacher at Enfield High School.  He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Connecticut State University in History/Social Science and was awarded a Masters Degree in Education from Westfield State College.  Mr. DeFilipi is also certified in Remedial Reading K-12.

In addition to teaching, Mr. DeFilipi has created, produced and performed original, historical/educational songs, vignettes and workshops as Mr. Democracy-a colonial schoolmaster.  He has performed at the Eastern States Exhibition, Enfield Fourth of July Celebration, Barnes and Noble Teacher Night and many other locations throughout New England. 

Mr. DeFilipi has been involved in numerous professional and community organizations.  These include the National Purple Heart Museum, National Football Foundation and Mount Carmel Society.
