Enfield Teacher of the Year 2017-18
The Enfield Public Schools is pleased to announce Andrea Tarbox has been selected as the 2017-18 Enfield Teacher of the Year. Ms. Tarbox is a third-grade teacher at Eli Whitney School. She will represent Enfield at the state level in the Connecticut Teacher of the Year Process.
Ms. Tarbox was nominated by Jagruti Desai, a fellow staff member at Eli Whitney. Ms. Tarbox has been recognized for her commitment to her students. She is known for a high level of energy and innovation she brings to her classroom. During the selection process, the Teacher of the Year Committee recognized her creativity in planning lessons. She uses unique and imaginative strategies to enhance the learning process for her students. Ms. Tarbox integrates units wherein students utilize technology with LEGO products so students can showcase their creative side. She is an active member of the Eli Whitney PTO, is on the board of Enfield Athletics Hall of Fame, and the varsity softball coach at Enfield High School. Ms. Tarbox also organizes and is part of many fundraisers during the year such as: Chipotle fundraiser, Back to School Picnic, and Bingo night, just to name a few. She as taught Summer School at the elementary level as well as participated in writing Social Studies curriculum.
Ms. Tarbox is completing her 11th year teaching in Enfield and is herself a product of the Enfield Schools. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Mathematics in 2006 from Eastern Connecticut State University, and her Master’s in Education in 2011 from American International College.
