Thomas Higgins

Dr. John Gallacher, Superintendent of Schools has announced that Thomas R. Higgins is Enfield Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year for the 2009-10 school year.  Mr. Higgins will be a candidate for the Connecticut State Teacher of the Year competition.

Mr. Higgins has eleven years of teaching experience as an elementary teacher at Henry Barnard School.  He taught grade six for four years and currently teaches second grade.  Growing up in Enfield, he attended Edgar H. Parkman School, John F. Kennedy Middle School and Enfield High School.  Mr. Higgins holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Salve Regina in Rhode Island and a Masters in Education Degree from Westfield State in Massachusetts.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Higgins is involved in many district and school-wide committees.  These include the Professional Learning Committee, PIE and the Henry Barnard PTO.  Mr. Higgins has also coached in Enfield for Youth Hockey and Enfield Little League.  The Enfield Public Schools’ Family is proud to have Mr. Higgins as their Teacher of the Year.
