Dr. Schumann began his tenure as Superintendent of Schools for the Enfield Public Schools on July 1, 2012.  Prior to coming to Enfield, Dr.Schumann was an administrator in the Newington Public Schools for fourteen and a half years, serving as a high school assistant principal, middle school principal and for the last six years as Deputy Superintendent.  Dr. Schumann was a teacher in Wethersfield for seventeen and a half years, seven in physical education and the last eleven in secondary science.

Dr. Schumann earned a Doctor of Philosophy and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study degrees from the University of Connecticut in Educational Leadership.  He earned a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Rhode Island in Physical Education, Health & Recreation.  He is active in the New England and Connecticut Associations of Public School Superintendents.  He serves on the Financial Development Committee at the Connecticut Association of Schools and chairs the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls Swimming Committee.
